It doesn’t take long to realize that the number of high rises in the US is increasing. Condo and office buildings are increasing in stature, while energy efficiency requirements are getting more stringent. This presentation will discuss how high-rise buildings can begin to meet the more stringent energy codes that are now being enforced. Using current energy modeling, research and tools, this presentation will discuss how to design and build better high-rise buildings that meet energy code requirements and reduce energy consumption. Topics covered include energy modeling, thermal bridging, stack effect, mechanical systems, and even Passive House for high rise buildings.
