Southern California Edison (SCE) is one of the nations largest investor-owned electric utilities, serving nearly 14 million people in 15 counties of Central, Coastal and Southern California. Based in Rosemead, California, the utility has been providing electric service in the region for more than 120 years. SCE is a subsidiary of Edison International, which also is headquartered in Rosemead. As the nations leading purchaser of renewable energy, SCE delivered 13.6 billion kilowatt-hours of renewable energy to its customers in 2009 17 percent of the total energy delivered to its customers. This energy comes from such renewable sources as wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, and small hydroelectric. Over the last five years, SCE customers have saved 6.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity through SCEs energy-efficiency programs and services enough to power 965,000 average Southern California homes for an entire year. During that five-year period, SCEs partnership with its customers reduced greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 3.4 million metric tons the equivalent of removing 650,000 cars from the road.
The West Coast Energy Management Congress is presented by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) The Association's more than 11,000 members include energy engineering and management professionals from throughout the U.S., as well as over 70 nations abroad.
